Avalon a planet is located in the Sculptor Dwarf Galaxy[1], a satellite of the Milky Way Galaxy, that is located about 290,000 light-years away from the Solar System. Avalon is Humanity's beta site backup plan. It is uninteresting, yet pleasant. Avalon does have a faint fuzzy ring like that of Neptune.[2] Skippy found out that the star system had indeed been modified by the Elders before they left. He did not find anything outwardly dangerous, but both Bishop and Skippy had a nagging feeling about the place. When the Flying Dutchman left to return to Earth with news of the beta site candidate, they left behind most of the crew, including Hans Chotek and the 3 annoying diplomats, as well as equipment and enough supplies for a long duration stay.[3] Upon returning to Avalon with both the Flying Dutchman and Valkyrie, Skippy suspected that there was a Saturn-sized gas giant that had been stealthed by the Elders, just like Vera, the one in the Roach Motel. They named it Maris.[4] After the Pirates acquired Elder Weapons from Maris and defended Earth from the Maxolhx, they eventually traveled back to Avalon and evacuated everyone to return them to Earth.[5] |
