Plot Summary[]

SPOILER ALERT!
The section(s) below SCHMAYBE includes Spoilers.

After the Flying Dutchman arrives back at Earth, Skippy the Magnificent takes it offline to perform critical repairs and Lt. Col. Jeremy Smythe takes up the challenge of training a new multinational STAR team of SpecOps personnel to take on future threats. Skippy develops a man-crush on billionaire engineer-scientist, Brock Steel, who starts working with him to understand the Kristang troopship, Yu Qishan, near Mars' orbit in order to restart the reactor.

At the edge of the solar system, a stealth Kristang ship containing Blood Fang clan members and the mercenary Achakai that had arrived at Earth to attack the White Wind clan (the clan that had attempted to capture Earth) woke some of its warriors (mostly Achakai) from hibernation and was beset by infighting. After the damaging firefight, the surviving Achakai warriors discovered that not only were the White Wind clan not in control of Earth, but that the low tech humans had captured a Kristang and a Thuranin starship and powerful Elder technology. With their troop transport, "Ice Cold Dagger to the Heart" severely damaged, the Achakai made plans to go to Earth using stealth dropships.

When the Achakai attacked, they hit the Yu Qishan first, which had jumped away from Earth with Skippy and was stranded near Mars with a broken jump drive. By the time the distress signal reached Earth, a separate Achakai team had attacked Wright Patterson AFB near Dayton, Ohio to secure the Elder Wormhole Controller Module that was being studied there.

Smythe's STAR teams attempted to defend the Wormhole Controller Module while Colonel Joseph Bishop used a kludged-together drop ship to board the enemy troop transport ship. The STAR teams faced overwhelming opposition, and the U.S. military was on the verge of granting his request to launch nuclear weapons on his position. However, Joe's teams successfully captured the "Dagger" and used it to save Skippy and then to provide close space support for the STAR team on Earth, saving the day again.
