The dominant sentient species on Earth. They are, at first, under the impression that they are the only intelligent life in the universe. After the Ruhar attack Earth on U.S. Columbus day, they learn they were wrong. Seeming to be the savior of mankind, the Kristang show up and defeat the invading Ruhar. The humans willingly join forces with the Kristang to fight the Ruhar on a planet light years away from Earth that the humans call Paradise due to its lovely appearance, but the Kristang call Pradassis and the Ruhar call Gehtanu.
After a wormhole anchored in Kristang space opens up near Earth, a distant part of Ruhar territory, the Ruhar attack Earth and destroy its industrial and military complex so the Kristang don't gain a strong foothold in Ruhar space. The Ruhar are careful to limit the collateral damage to humans, although humans do not seem to understand this.
Initially a willing client species of the Kristang and at war with the Ruhar, the United Nations Expeditionary Force (UNEF) of the humans later becomes stuck on Paradise as prisoners of the Ruhar.
Later, after refusing to murder innocent Ruhar civilians on Paradise and after being abused and tortured by Kristang on Earth, the humans rebel against the Kristang, with the help of an Elder AI named Skippy the Magnificent, and are no longer a client species of the Kristang.
Humans are a Tier 4 species (with the minor exception of the Merry Band of Pirates), The Ruhar and Kristang are both Tier 3 species.
The Elders were an ancient race that disappeared from the Milky Way millions of years ago. Skippy the Magnificent believes they ascended to a higher level of existence.

Humans on Earth, Avalon & Jiyayuguan (Club Skippy/Jaguar) currently have no specific patrons or clients, but have achieved alliances with two species to whom they provide support. The humans on Paradise, though not technically clients of the Ruhar, must abide and are subject to Ruhar legal tenets.
