Maxolhx are one of the oldest known species presently in the galaxy second only to the Rindhalu. They are currently the de-facto patrons of the Thuranin, the Bosphuraq and the Esselgin. The Maxolhx do not share a good relationship with the Thuranin, treating them as tools in their war with the Rindhalu, though their regard for the Bosphuraq seems to be higher as the Maxolhx have been known to consult them on matters of Elder Technology. |
Biology[]Maxolhx are humanoid with cat-like features. Fine fur covers their bodies, particularly their faces and backs of their hands. They possess yellow eyes and teeth that protrude past the lower lip - akin to a saber-tooth tiger. On one occassion, they were visually compared to the anthropomorphic snow leopard 'Tai Lung' character from the 2008 American film Kung Fu Panda. Not much is known about Maxolhx internal biology, however, they have been considered the most sweepingly anatomically similar to Humans of all the galaxy's sapient species. |
Culture[]As a people, the Maxolhx are fanatically devoted to their manifest destiny, wholly believing that their kind should be the sole rulers of the Milky Way. Demonstrating an overwhelming need for situational control, Maxolhx are known to immediately flee if unable to gain the upper hand in a conflict, and in situations where that is truly impossible, to attempt suicide. They are prone to outbursts of anger, and have expressed a desire to seek physical outlets to unleash it upon, such as ship consoles; in this manner they are not unlike Kristang. In general members of their species are, as an extension of both these aspects, extremely domineering and conniving. These basal emotional urges are very likely reasons for their departure from the Rindhalu's patronage.[1] |
Technology[]The Maxolhx made use of several technologies not shared by another other species in the galaxy, even the Rindhalu. Most notably is the PQSI, which relies on an irreplicable and unhackable "analogue" authentication system, which can be updated in real time through quantum state evolution. Seventeen thousand PQSIs could fit inside a ~300g container. This is just one case of their use of near-microscopic technology. They also employ nanobots in their blood and tissues, which are intended to regulate metabolic functions, enhance physical strength, more efficiently utilize chemical energy, and heal wounds. Maxolhx have further demonstrated usage of these nanobots in cognizant inducing of a form of hibernation, the committing of suicide via electrical discharge, and seizing control of mechanical and technological devices.[1] Osmium and Tantalum[]Osmium and Tantalum are materials that are used in Maxolhx missiles. Traces of each substance were found in a debris field near the wormhole that led to Paradise after the Jeraptha star carrier You Should Have Thought About That Before We Left and troop transport We Avoid Temptation But It Keeps Finding Us were destroyed by a group of Maxolhx ships.[2] History[]Originally, the Maxolhx were technologically-nurtured clients of the Rindhalu, but at some point during their history they elected to use Elder Technology to attempt to attack and enslave the Rindhalu in order to become the rulers of the galaxy. In retaliation the Rindhalu also employed Elder Technology causing Elder Sentinels to reawaken and attack both sides devastating both sides to the brink of extinction. At a later unknown point, the Maxolhx in desperation again used Elder devices to attack the Rindhalu. Using the Elder technology to warp space-time around an Elder Wormhole linked to a Rindhalu controlled star system, this caused a Sentinel to destroy four Maxolhx controlled worlds and one powerful battle fleet. Due to these reactions by the Sentinels, both sides are wary of using Elder technology as weapons, instead forcing the war to rage indirectly through the client species controlled by both sides. The Rindhalu and Maxolhx have designated six neutral meeting places across the Galaxy for them to meet when needed. First encountered by the Merry Band of Pirates in the Roach Motel, speculations concerning their presence in the galaxy had been circulating since the Ex Force was stationed on Camp Alpha. |
Military[]The Fleet Authority of the Maxolhx is a truly formidable force. Despite this, it sees comparatively little action to the navies of their client species, as frequent battles involving such advanced technology is liable to wake the Sentinels. Even still, Maxolhx warships were available for deployment across the galaxy. The Maxolhx Science and Intelligence Ministry operated several ships, and was on at least one occassion able to secure the cooperation or at least ambivalence of the entire Rindhalu Coalition in a venture to guarantee the stability of the Elder Wormhole Network; Ruhar communications relays informed Ruhar ships to not interfere with Maxolhx S&I passage towards the wormhole to Earth.[3] |
