Nert Dandurff is the nephew of Chief Administrator Baturnah Logellia. He is a young, socially awkward Ruhar cadet and gets picked on by other cadets in the Ruhar Military Academy. Nert is assigned to the Mavericks (Emily Perkins, Irene Striebich, Derek Bonsu, Dave Czajka, Jesse Colter and Shauna Jarrett) as a Ruhar liaison. He is reasonably fluent in English and doesn't have to rely on a translator much. Although, when speaking English, his speech pattern is such that, frequently, it makes it seem as if he's asking a question. Nert is fascinated by Human culture and idioms, although, without the proper context, he will often use an idiom that is inappropriate. This sometimes causes Colter and Czajka (and, on occasion, Jarrett and Perkins as well) to burst out laughing. At times, when he doesn't fully understand the reason, he feels embarrassed. He participated in the Mavericks mission to reactivate all the MASER Projectors on Paradise (during the events of ExForce 3.5: Trouble on Paradise), in which, Jarrett blew up an island. Nert was having some degree of difficulty keeping up with his cadet lessons while at the same time fulfilling his function as the Ruhar/Human liason for the Mavericks. This raised some concern with Perkins, who was beginning to feel "motherly" towards him. He was asked if he should give up being a liaison and return to the Military Academy full time. It was decided that he would remain with the Mavericks because it provides him with more practical training. The human members of the Mavericks are very protective of Nert and also consider him a valuable member of their team. Nert is attracted to a fellow cadet, Jinn Gamor, who he met when the the Mavericks were assigned to the Ruh Tostella for a training mission. |
