The Let It Ride is a civilian Jeraptha star carrier based on a standard design that was shared with their military. She didn’t have hardened control systems like a military ship would. The star carrier was needed to help transport Verd-kris volunteers off of Rentenoh. The Merry Band of Pirates decided to steal her to demonstrate to the Rindhalu that the Jeraptha and Ruhar were not assisting humans by providing them ships.[1] With the Let It Ride sitting motionless, and lacking military-grade sensors and control systems, Skippy the Magnificent was able to infiltrate the AIs of the Let It Ride, and the six Ruhar civilian transport ships attached to the hard points. The star carrier was selected as the target because it was a civilian vessel with minimal defenses, it had recently gone through an extensive refit, and the transport ships were all empty, other than their civilian crews. The ships had minimal shields and weapons.[1] While speaking with Captain Federatan, General Joseph Bishop explained that before they arrived, the Pirates had stopped at a Jeraptha relay station and placed a wager in her and her crew's behalf that correctly guessed what the Pirates would do with the stolen Star Carrier and five of the six Ruhar transports. The information available to Captain Federatan included when and where the wagers were supposedly made, their accepted odds, and the payouts for winning. To keep Central Wagering from being suspicious, eight of the nine wagers were out of the money, but the one that won, hit big. The details of the wager were obscured to her. Captain Federatan and her crew were allowed to depart using the remaining Ruhar transport.[1] She will probably be modified into a military version of the Jeraptha Star Carrier. |
