The Turnaden was part of the Ruhar 7th Fleet under Admiral Kune's command and tasked with supporting the Alien Legion above Stiglord (Squidworld). She was the first assualt carrier hit by maser cannon fire above Squidworld. The ship’s shields deflected terrawatts of directed energy. The Turnaden tilted at a right angle to its flight path and tumbling. Pieces broke away as the damaged ship was struck again. A third searing bolt of X-ray laser energy struck the Turnaden, defense shields flickered and blinked out as their generators were overwhelmed. The beam sliced into the hull, blasting armor plating apart like tissue paper and melting structural frames in the heart of the ship. Its spine broken, the assault carrier sagged in the middle, nose and tail bending slowly in opposite directions. Then the Turnaden broke in half, the shattered ends glowing with harsh arcs of lightning as power conduits released their energy into the void.[1] |
